If You Want To Level Up, Cut Back on This Stuff In the Mornings

Remember to Forget

In Maslow’s “hierarchy of needs,” most of us swirl around those bottom sectors, missing the higher realms that give the pyramid its powerful form, and life meaning.

We often complain we don’t have enough time. And while we can’t invent the 25-hour day, we can start each morning at the top of the pyramid…

But how?

We all have our concept of an ideal morning… Maybe it’s eating the perfect foods, doing a wellness routine and meditating into a state of enlightenment so the whole day flows effortlessly.

If only…

But what’s often missed in morning routines is what we don’t do can matter more than what we do.

As we are creatures of habit, it’s a tall order. But by mistake, I started a day at the top of the pyramid…

I think it was Wednesday, doesn’t matter, but I got more done than I normally ever would have by 11 am, pushing forward “dream projects” that sat on the back-burner for too long.

When I realized how much more I accomplished than normal, I tried to think what I did to make that happen… Then I realized it was what I didn’t do.

I didn’t check the news, social media or even my business email.

I launched into a dream project and got so carried away that I forgot to do these “important” things.

Really? So the news, my phone and email will wait? I thought life fell apart if I didn’t see who made headlines first thing…

It’s the ego that “needs” to see what’s happening in the world, what’s trending…

And once the ego achieves what it wants, our intuition is left in the background — scrambled — along with our dream projects.

Mundane tasks crowd our minds and disconnect us from our inner wisdom, so why not do those after we’ve done something meaningful?

Each day is really like a whole life. There will always be the mundane stuff waiting, the key is to let them wait…

Here’s a test to know what to do first: Will it matter five years from now? Start there…

And later, when the outside world floods in, you’ll smile knowing you already achieved what matters, and nothing can take that away.
